The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full. 2 And who, when they measure unto them or weigh for them, diminish. 3 Do such people not realize that they will be raised up, 4 on a fateful Day. 5 when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Woe to them! Let them know that the records of the sinner's deeds are in Sijin. 7 And what will make you know what Sijjin is? 8 It is a Book inscribed. 9 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 10 Who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 And none can deny it but the Transgressor beyond bounds the Sinner! 12 When Our Signs are rehearsed to him, he says, "Tales of the ancients!" 13 No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning. 14 Yes indeed - they will be deprived of seeing their Lord on that day. 15 and then, behold, they shall enter the blazing fire 16 They will then be told: "This is what you had denied." 17 NAY, VERILY - the record of the truly virtuous is [set down] in a mode most lofty! 18 Ah, what will convey unto thee what 'Illiyin is! - 19 It is a repository of distinctly written record 20 which those angels closest to God will bear witness to. 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Bliss; 22 Reclining on couches, looking on. 23 thou knowest in their faces the radiancy of bliss 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine, sealed, 25 The sealing of it is (with) musk; and for that let the aspirers aspire. 26 Blended with the water of Tasnim, 27 A fountain from which drink they who are drawn near (to Allah). 28 Surely they who are guilty used to laugh at those who believe. 29 and whenever they pass by them, they wink at one another [derisively]; 30 and when they returned to their people they returned blithely, 31 And when they saw them they said: Lo! these have gone astray. 32 But they were not Sent to be guardians over them! 33 So this day it is the believers who laugh at the disbelievers. 34 On high thrones, watching. 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded what they were doing? 36
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
