Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 in a garden sublime, 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 therein a running fountain, 12 In which are high thrones. 13 Goblets set, 14 cushions ranged, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
