The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two]. 1 Yet if they see a sign (the unbelievers) turn their backs and say: 'This is but a continuation of sorcery' 2 They denied (the Truth) and followed their own lusts. Yet everything will come to a decision 3 And certainly some narratives have come to them wherein is prevention-- 4 The pinnacle of wisdom – so how will the Heralds of warning provide any benefit? 5 So withdraw from them (O Muhammad) on the day when the Summoner summoneth unto a painful thing. 6 Their eyes humbled, they will emerge from the graves as if they were locusts spreading, 7 Hastening to the inviter. The unbelievers shall say: This is a hard day. 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled. 9 Then he invoked his Lord (saying): "I have been overcome, so help (me)!" 10 So We opened the gates of the cloud with water pouring 11 and made the earth to gush with fountains, and the waters met for a matter decreed. 12 And We carried him on a (ship) made of planks and nails, 13 Moving forward under Our eyes: a requital for him who had been rejected. 14 And We have left this as a Sign (for all time): then is there any that will receive admonition? 15 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 16 And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 17 The people of `Ad rejected Our guidance. How terrible was My torment and the result (of their disregard) of My warning. 18 Surely We sent on them a tornado in a day of bitter ill-luck 19 Extracting the people as if they were trunks of palm trees uprooted. 20 How was then My punishment and My commination! 21 We have made it easy to learn lessons from the Quran: is there anyone who would receive admonition? 22
