Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ The Inevitable! (Day of Judgment). 1 What is the Reality? 2 What makes you to know what the Resurrection Verifier is? 3 The people of Thamud and Ad denied the Day of Judgment. 4 the Thamud were destroyed by a terrible storm of thunder and lightning; 5 And as for A'ad, they were destroyed by a fierce roaring wind, 6 Which Allah imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you would see the people therein fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees. 7 Canst thou (O Muhammad) see any remnant of them? 8 The Pharaoh, those who lived before him and the people of the Subverted Cities all persisted in doing evil. 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, therefor did He grip them with a tightening grip. 10 Verily when the water rose to great heights, We bore you upon a floating vessel (i.e. the Ark) 11 That We might make it a memorial for you, and that remembering ears (that heard the story) might remember. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound a single blast. 13 And the earth and the mountains will be lifted up and crushed with a single crush. 14 Then, on that day will the Event befall. 15 and the heavens will be rent asunder, 16 The angels will appear by its sides and, on that Day, eight [angels] will bear your Lord's throne above them. 17 On that day you shall be exposed to view-- no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 So as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, "Here, read my record! 19 Surely, I knew that I should meet my reckoning," 20 His shall be a pleasing life 21 In a Garden on high, 22 with clusters of fruit within easy reach. 23 We shall say to him, "Eat and drink joyfully as a reward for the good deeds you did in days gone by." 24 But as for him who is given his book in his left hand, he shall say, 'Would that I had not been given my book 25 And had not known what is my account. 26 Would that death had taken us away for good. 27 My wealth has been of no use to me. 28 I am bereft of power." 29 (It will be said): "Seize him and fetter him, 30 Then throw him in the blazing Fire. 31 Then thrust him into a chain the length of which is seventy cubits. 32 Behold, he never believed in God the All-mighty, 33 Nor he urged on others the feeding of the poor. 34 That is why he has no friend today, 35 and has no food except the filth from the washing of wounds, 36 None will eat it except the sinners. 37
