The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By those who drag forth to destruction, 1 and gently take it away; 2 By the lone stars floating, 3 And then they speed with foremost speed. 4 and then manage the affairs of the Universe (according to their Lord's commands). 5 On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], 6 And the following event will come after it. 7 hearts will be throbbing, 8 Eyes be lowered in submission. 9 [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 They say: "Then this returning will be a dead loss." 12 But it shall be only a single cry, 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 Did the news of Moosa reach you? 15 When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, 16 Go to Firon, surely he has become inordinate. 17 "And say to him, 'Wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin)?- 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. 20 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; 21 Then he went back hastily. 22 And he summoned all his people, 23 And said, "I am your most exalted lord." 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God. 26
