Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 therein a running fountain, 12 and couches raised high, 13 and goblets set forth 14 And cushions lined up 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
