Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Alif-Lam-Meem. (Alphabets of the Arabic language – Allah, and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) 1 These are verses of the Wise Book. 2 providing guidance and grace unto the doers of good 3 who are constant in prayer and dispense charity: for it is they, they who in their innermost are certain of the life to come! 4 It is they who follow the guidance [that comes to them] from their Sustainer; and it is they, they who shall attain to a happy state! 5 There are some people who would purchase distracting talk, to lead astray from the Path of Allah without knowledge, and take it in mockery; for those is a humiliating punishment. 6 And when Our revelations are recited unto him he turneth away in his stiff-neckedness as though he heard them not: as though there was a deafness in his ears. So announce thou unto him a torment afflictive. 7 Surely those who believe and do good deeds shall have Gardens of Bliss. 8 Wherein they will abide. It is a promise of Allah in truth. He is the Mighty, the Wise. 9 He created the skies without a support, as you can see, and placed stabilisers in the earth that you may dwell at ease as it revolves; and dispersed on it all varieties of creatures, and He sent down water from the skies and grew all kinds of splendid things upon it. 10 This is Allah's creation, but show Me what those besides Him have created. Nay, the unjust are in manifest error 11
