And indeed We rescued the Descendants of Israel from a disgraceful torture. 30 from Pharaoh; surely he was a high One, of the prodigals; 31 and We chose them, out of a knowledge above the nations (of their time). 32 and gave them such signs [of Our grace] as would clearly presage a test. 33 As to these (Quraish), they say forsooth: 34 there is nothing beyond our first death; we shall not be raised again. 35 "Then bring (back) our forefathers, if what ye say is true!" 36 Are they better, or the people of Tubba? And those who were before them? We destroyed them; they were indeed criminals. 37 And We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, in play. 38 We created them with definite purpose; but most of them do not understand. 39 Assuredly the Day of Decision is the term for all of them, 40 The day on which, no friends will benefit each other at all, nor will they be helped. (Except those who are pious – see verse 43:67) 41 Save those on whom Allah shall have mercy; surely He is the Mighty the Merciful. 42
