Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Calamity! 1 What is the concrete reality? 2 And what do you know what that indubitable event is? 3 Thamood and Aad belied the Clatterer. 4 Thamood, they were destroyed by the violent shout (of Gabriel), 5 and as for Ad, they were destroyed by a wind clamorous, 6 He made it rage against them seven nights and eight days in succession: so that thou couldst see the (whole) people lying prostrate in its (path), as they had been roots of hollow palm-trees tumbled down! 7 Then do you see of them any remains? 8 And there was Pharaoh, too, and [many of] those who lived before him, and the cities that were overthrown - [all of them] indulged in sin upon sin 9 They therefore disobeyed the Noble Messengers of their Lord – so He seized them with an intense seizure. 10 We, when the water (of Noah's Flood) overflowed beyond its limits, carried you (mankind), in the floating (Ark), 11 That We might make it a Message unto you, and that ears (that should hear the tale and) retain its memory should bear its (lessons) in remembrance. 12 Then when the Trumpet will be blown with one blowing (the first one), 13 the earth and mountains will be raised up high and crushed all together. 14 Then, on that day will the Event befall. 15 when the sky will be rent asunder, the grip holding it together having loosened on that Day, 16 And the angels are at its edges. And there will bear the Throne of your Lord above them, that Day, eight [of them]. 17 On that Day you will be brought to judgement and none of your secrets will remain hidden. 18 Then he who is given his record in his right hand will exclaim, "Here is my record, read it. 19 Behold, I did know that [one day] I would have to face my account! 20 Then he shall find himself in a life of bliss; 21 In a high garden 22 with its fruits within easy reach. 23 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of what you did in days long passed' 24 And whoever is given his book in his left hand – he will say, “Alas, if only my account were not given to me!” 25 and that we would never knew what our records contained. 26 I wish my death had been the decisive one. 27 My wealth has availed me nothing: 28 My authority is gone away from me. 29 Lay hold on him, then put a chain on him, 30 Roast him in Hell, 31 And string him to a chain seventy cubits long. 32 for he did not believe in Almighty God, 33 nor did he feel any urge to feed the needy, 34 So no friend has he here this Day, 35 Nor any food except refuse, 36 None will eat except the Khati'un (sinners, disbelievers, polytheists, etc.). 37
