By no means! By the moon, 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 And [by] the morning when it brightens, 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 As a warning unto men, 36 A warning unto him of you who shall go forward or who chooseth to lag behind. 37 Each one is a hostage to one's deeds, 38 Except those on the right side. 39 In Gardens (Paradise) they will ask one another, 40 about the sinners. 41 "What has caused you to enter Hell?" 42 They will reply: 'We were not among those who prayed 43 and neither did we feed the needy; 44 and we plunged along with the plungers, 45 and we gave the lie to the Day of Judgement 46 Till death overtook us. 47 So the intercession of intercessors shall not avail them. 48 What ails them, that they turn away from the Reminder, 49 As though they were asses startled. 50 Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. 51 Nay, every man of them desires to be -- given -- scrolls unrolled. 52 No, indeed they have no fear of the Everlasting Life. 53 By no means! Verily this Qur'an is an admonition. 54 So, whoever wills may benefit from it. 55 But none will keep it in remembrance except as Allah wills: He is the Lord of Righteousness, and the Lord of Forgiveness. 56
