We created man out of dry clay, from moulded mud, 26 And the jinn, We created aforetime from the smokeless flame of fire. 27 When your Lord said to the angels, "I will create the human being out of pure mud-moulded clay. 28 And when I have proportioned him and breathed into him of My [created] soul, then fall down to him in prostration." 29 So, the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together. 30 But Satan did not; he refused to join those who prostrated themselves. 31 God asked Iblis, "What made you not join the others in prostration?" 32 "How could I bow," said he, "before a mortal whom You created from fermented clay dried tingling hard?" 33 He said: Then get out of it, for surely you are driven away: 34 And surely on you is curse until the day of judgment. 35 Iblis said: "My Lord! Grant me respite till the Day when they will be resurrected." 36 Allah said: "Then, verily, you are of those reprieved, 37 till the appointed time. 38 He said, “My Lord! I swear by the fact that You sent me astray, I shall distract them in the earth, and I shall lead all of them astray.” 39 "Except Thy servants among them, sincere and purified (by Thy Grace)." 40 [Allah] said, "This is a path [of return] to Me [that is] straight. 41 over My worshipers you have no authority, except the perverse that follow you. 42 and for all such, behold, hell is the promised goal. 43 To it are seven gates: for each of those gates is a (special) class (of sinners) assigned. 44
