The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 a return for the insolent, 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
