The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Woe to those that deal in fraud,- 1 Those who, when they take by measure from mankind, exact the full, 2 But when they measure out to others or weigh out for them, they are deficient. 3 Do they not think that they will be called to account?- 4 for a great Day, 5 a day when mankind shall stand before the Lord of all Being? 6 Indeed! The record of the wicked is in the Sijjin -- 7 How will you comprehend what Sijjin is? 8 It is a written book. 9 Ah the woe that day for those who deny, 10 Those who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 None denies it but the sinful transgressors. 12 When Our Verses (of the Quran) are recited to him he says: "Tales of the ancients!" 13 By no means! Aye! encrusted upon their hearts is that which they have been earning. 14 Indeed! On that Day a barrier will be set between them and their Lord, 15 Further, they will enter the Fire of Hell. 16 Further, it will be said to them: "This is the (reality) which ye rejected as false! 17 But, the Book of the righteous is in the 'Illiyoon. 18 And what will explain to thee what 'Illiyun is? 19 (It is) a marked Book, 20 To which bear witness those brought nigh. 21 Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure 22 reclining on couches, reviewing (the bounties given to them). 23 and in their faces you shall know the radiance of bliss. 24 They will be served a drink of the finest sealed wine, 25 The seal thereof will be Musk: And for this let those aspire, who have aspirations: 26 And mixed with water of Tasnim, 27 A spring whence those brought near (to Allah) drink. 28 Indeed the guilty used to laugh at the believers. 29 And, when they passed them, to wink at each other, 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 and when they saw them they said, 'Lo, these men are astray!' 32 And they were not sent to be keepers over them. 33 But on the Day [of Judgment,] they who had attained to faith will [be able to] laugh at the [erstwhile] deniers of the truth: 34 Regarding them from their cushioned seats. 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
