The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
