Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Nay, I swear by this city - 1 and you are dwelling in this city -- 2 And the begetter and whom he begot. 3 Verily, We have created man in toil. 4 What, does he think none has power over him, 5 He says: “I have squandered enormous wealth.” 6 Does he think that no one has seen him? 7 Have We not given him two eyes, 8 And a tongue and two lips, 9 and shown him the two paths? 10 So he did not quickly enter the steep valley. 11 Would that you knew what Aqaba is! 12 The freeing of a slave, 13 or giving food upon a day of hunger 14 To the orphan with claims of relationship, 15 Or a poor man cleaving to the dust. 16 the believers who cooperate with others in patience (steadfastness) and kindness. 17 They are those on the Right Hand (the dwellers of Paradise), 18 As for those who rejected Our Signs, they are the People of the Left Hand. 19 Over them will be fire closed in. 20
God the Almighty always says the truth.
