The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood: 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who teacheth by the pen, 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the return. 8 What is your opinion – regarding him who forbids – 9 A bondman when he offers the prayer? 10 What thinkest thou? If he were upon guidance 11 Or enjoins piety? 12 Tell me if he (the disbeliever, Abu Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Quran), and turns away? 13 Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? 14 Yes certainly, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock. 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 Then let him call upon his henchmen! 17 [the while] We shall summon the forces of heavenly chastisement! 18 Nay, heed him not: But bow down in adoration, and bring thyself the closer (to Allah)! ۩ 19
Almighty Allah's Truth.
