Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Ha-Mim. 1 I call to witness the lucent Book, 2 We have made it an Arabic Quran so that you may understand. 3 It is in the Origin of the Book with Us, sublime and wise. 4 Can We ignore sending you the Quran just because you are a transgressing people? 5 How many a Prophet did We send to the ancients, 6 No Prophet came to them whom they did not mock. 7 And We destroyed greater than them in [striking] power, and the example of the former peoples has preceded. 8 If you ask them: "Who created the heavens and the earth?" they will answer: "The Mighty and All-knowing created them," 9 (Yea, the same that) has made for you the earth (like a carpet) spread out, and has made for you roads (and channels) therein, in order that ye may find guidance (on the way); 10 Who sent down water in due measure from the sky, then quickened a region that was dead -- So shall We bring you forth -- 11 And the One Who created all pairs, and made the ships and cattle as rides for you. 12 So that you may properly mount their backs, and may remember your Lord’s favour when you have mounted them, and say, “Purity is to Him, Who has given this ride in our control, and we did not have the strength for it.” 13 And lo! unto our Lord we surely are returning. 14 Yet they make some of His creatures His offspring! Man is surely most ungrateful. 15
