The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the star when it sets: 1 Your companion hath not gone astray, nor hath he erred. 2 nor does he speak out of his desire. 3 This is nothing but a revelation that is conveyed to him, 4 taught by One who is Stern in power. 5 The Strong; then the Spectacle inclined towards him. 6 When he was on the uppermost horizon. 7 Then he approached and descended 8 Till he was (distant) two bows' length or even nearer, 9 And thus did [God] reveal unto His servant whatever He deemed right to reveal. 10 The [servant's] heart did not give the lie to what he saw: 11 Are you, then, going to contend with him regarding what he sees with his eyes? 12 And indeed he did see the Spectacle again. 13 Near the Lote-tree beyond which none may pass: 14 near which is Paradise. 15 (This was) when the lote-tree was covered with that which covered it. 16 Neither did sight falter nor exceed the bounds. 17 for indeed he saw one of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have you considered El-Lat and El-'Uzza 19 and, another, the third manat? 20 What! for you the males and for Him the females! 21 Then that is surely a very unjust distribution! 22 These are nothing but names which ye have devised,- ye and your fathers,- for which Allah has sent down no authority (whatever). They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own souls desire!- Even though there has already come to them Guidance from their Lord! 23 Is the human to have whatever he fancies? 24 To Allah belong both the Next World and the present. 25

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
