The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The Compassionate. 1 has imparted this Qur'an [unto man]. 2 He has created man: 3 and taught him its pronunciation. 4 [At His behest] the sun and the moon run their appointed courses; 5 [before Him] prostrate themselves the stars and the trees. 6 He raised the heaven on high and set the scale. 7 So that none may err against the scales, 8 Always measure with justice and do not give short measure. 9 And the earth hath He appointed for (His) creatures, 10 There exists all kinds of fruits, palm-trees with sheathed blossoms, 11 And grain having husks and scented plants. 12 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 13 He created man of fermented clay dried tinkling hard like earthen ware, 14 And the jinns did He create from a smokeless flame of fire. 15 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 16 The Lord of the Two Easts, the Lord of the Two Wests. 17 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 18 He has set two seas in motion that flow side by side together, 19 between them a barrier they do not overpass. 20 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 21 There come forth from the twain the pearl and the coral. 22 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 23 Also, His are the ships that run, raised up like mountains upon the sea. 24 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 25
