The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Woe to Al-Mutaffifin [those who give less in measure and weight (decrease the rights of others)], 1 Those who when they take the measure from others, take it in full! 2 but when they have to measure or weigh whatever they owe to others, give less than what is due! 3 Do they not realize that they will be resurrected 4 on a Great Day, 5 The Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)? 6 By no means! Verily the record of the ungodly is in Sijjin. 7 and what shall teach thee what is Sijjin? 8 It is a repository of distinctly written record. 9 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 10 Who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 Which none denieth save each criminal transgressor, 12 When Our revelations are conveyed to him, he says, "Fables of the ancients!" 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 Yes indeed - they will be deprived of seeing their Lord on that day. 15 They will suffer the heat of fire 16 whereafter they will be told: “This is what you used to give the lie to.” 17 Surely the ledger of the pious will be in 'Illiyun, heights above the heights. 18 And what will explain to thee what 'Illiyun is? 19 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed, 20 Witnessed by those who are honoured. 21 The virtuous will live in bliss, 22 On couches, gazing, 23 thou knowest in their faces the radiancy of bliss 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine, sealed, 25 The sealing of it is (with) musk; and for that let the aspirers aspire. 26 It (that wine) will be mixed with Tasnim. 27 A fountain from which only they who are honoured drink. 28 Indeed the guilty used to laugh at the believers. 29 And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances. 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 and when they saw the believers, they said: “Lo! These are the erring ones”; 32 But they had not been sent as keepers over them! 33 so today those who believe shall [be able to] laugh at those who denied the truth 34 upon couches gazing. 35 Are not the disbelievers paid (fully) for what they used to do? 36
