The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the sky and the night comer - 1 And what shall teach thee what is the night-star? 2 The very brightly shining star! 3 [for] no human being has ever been left unguarded. 4 So let man observe from what he was created. 5 Created from a gushing fluid. 6 that issues from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Surely He is able to bring him back 8 A day when the secrets will be examined. 9 He shall have neither strength nor helper. 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a word that distinguishes between truth and falsehood, 13 And is not a matter of amusement. 14 Verily they are plotting a plot. 15 And I plot a plot (against them). 16 So grant the unbelievers a respite: let them alone for a while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
