Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 in a garden sublime, 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 with a flowing spring, 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 And cushions lined up 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
