The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night as it envelops; 1 and by the day when it unveils. 2 By (the mystery of) the creation of male and female;- 3 you strive in various ways. 4 Yet he who gives to others and has fear, 5 and confirms the reward most fair, 6 We shall surely ease him to the Path of Easing; 7 As for him who was a miser and behaved with aversion (to Allah), 8 and cries lies to the reward most fair, 9 We will make smooth for him the path for evil; 10 And his riches will not avail him when he falls headlong (into the Abyss). 11 Verify on us is the guidance 12 And indeed the Hereafter and this world both belong to Us. 13 Therefore I warn you of the fire that flames: 14 Which only the most wretched must endure, 15 Who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs. 16 and from which the cautious shall be distanced. 17 even he who gives his wealth. to purify himself 18 and confers no favour on any man for recompense, 19 but only to seek the good pleasure of his Lord Most High. 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
God Almighty has spoken the truth.

Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
