۞ And Allah hath said: take not two gods; He is only One God so Me alone, Me dread. 51 To Him belongs whatsoever is in the heavens and on the earth, and obedience is due to Him alone. Will you then fear anyone other than God? 52 Whatsoever the blessings you enjoy are surely from God, and when in trouble you turn to Him in supplication. 53 Then, when He has removed the harm from you, behold! Some of you associate others in worship with their Lord (Allah). 54 that they may show unthankfulness for that We have given them. So take your joy; certainly you will soon know! 55 And they appoint a share of that We have provided them to what they know not. By God, you shall be questioned as to that you forged. 56 They assign daughters to God, glory be to Him!, but for themselves [sons] that they desire to have. 57 for, whenever any of them is given the glad tiding of [the birth of] a girl, his face darkens, and he is filled with suppressed anger, 58 avoiding all people because of the [alleged] evil of the glad tiding which he has received, [and debating within himself:] Shall he keep this [child] despite the contempt [which he feels for it] - or shall he bury it in the dust? Old, evil indeed is whatever they decide! 59 [Thus it is that] the attribute of evil applies to all who do not believe in the life to come - whereas unto God applies the attribute of all that is most sublime: for He alone is almighty, truly wise! 60
