Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
59 verses, revealed in Mecca after Vanity (Al-Zukhruf) before Kneeling (Al-Jaatheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
HaMeem 1 By the Clear Book. 2 Verily We have sent it down on a blessed night, verily We were to become warners. 3 Therein is decreed every affair of wisdom 4 The command that We have been sending 5 as a mercy (for the human being) from your Lord. Your Lord is All-hearing and All-knowing. 6 Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if ye would be sure. 7 There is no Allah save Him. He quickeneth and giveth death; your Lord and Lord of your forefathers. 8 (But the fact is, they lack certainty) and frolic about in doubt. 9 Then watch for the Day when the sky will bring a visible smoke. 10 That will envelop the people. This will be a painful torment. 11 "O Lord, take away this torment from us," (they will pray); "we have come to believe." 12 How can there be remembrance for them, when a messenger making plain (the Truth) had already come unto them, 13 Yet they turned their backs on him and said: One taught (by others), a madman. 14 [Still,] behold, We shall postpone this suffering for a little while, although you are bound to revert [to your evil ways: but] 15 But on that Day We will assault them most mightily, and then We shall revenge! 16 ۞ Indeed before that We subjected the Pharaonites to the same test. A noble Messenger came to them 17 saying, "Hand over God's servants to me. I am a trustworthy messenger for you. 18 Do not consider yourselves above God. I shall show you a manifest authority (in support of my truthfulness). 19 And indeed, I have sought refuge in my Lord and your Lord, lest you stone me. 20 "But if you believe me not, then keep away from me and leave me alone." 21 Then he supplicated to his Lord saying: 'These are sinful people' 22 We told him, "Leave the city with My servants during the night. You will be pursued. 23 "And leave the sea as it is (quiet and divided). Verily, They are a host to be drowned." 24 How many gardens and fountains did they leave behind, 25 and sown fields, fine sitting places, 26 and what prosperity they had rejoiced in! 27 Thus it was; and We made another people inherit all that. 28 Neither heaven nor earth wept for them, nor were they respited; 29

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
