The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun is covered, 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 And when the pregnant she-camels shall be neglected; 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 And when the seas rise, 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 And Paradise brought near, 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 and the first breath of morning. 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 And it (the Quran) is not the word of the outcast Shaitan (Satan). 25 Where then are you going? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
