Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 in a garden sublime, 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 and outspread carpets. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
