And mention in the Book (the Quran) Ibrahim (Abraham). Verily! He was a man of truth, a Prophet. 41 Behold, he said to his father: "O my father! why worship that which heareth not and seeth not, and can profit thee nothing? 42 "O my father! to me hath come knowledge which hath not reached thee: so follow me: I will guide thee to a way that is even and straight. 43 Father! Do not worship Satan -- for, truly, Satan is a rebel against the Most Gracious One! 44 O my father, indeed I fear that there will touch you a punishment from the Most Merciful so you would be to Satan a companion [in Hellfire]." 45 The father said: "Abraham, have you turned away from my gods? If you do not give this up, I shall stone you to death. Now begone from me forever." 46 He answered: "Peace be on you. I will seek forgiveness of my Lord for you. He has been gracious to me. 47 I will separate myself from you and from whatever you call upon besides God, and I will pray only to my Lord. It may well be that, in calling on my Lord, I will not be disappointed." 48 When he had turned away from them and from those whom they worshipped besides Allah, We bestowed on him Isaac and Jacob, and each one of them We made a prophet. 49 and We gave them of Our mercy, and We appointed unto them a tongue of truthfulness, sublime. 50
