The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Their reckoning has drawn near to men, and in heedlessness are they turning aside. 1 Whenever any fresh admonition comes to them from their Lord, they listen to it, but do not take it seriously; 2 and their hearts are preoccupied with trivial matters. The unjust ones whisper to each other and say, "Is he (Muhammad) more than a mere mortal like you? How can you follow that which you know is only a magic?" 3 Say: "My Lord knoweth (every) word (spoken) in the heavens and on earth: He is the One that heareth and knoweth (all things)." 4 Aye! they say: a medley of dreams; aye! he hath fabricated it; aye! he is a poet; so let him bring us a sign even as the ancients were sent with. 5 Not one township that We destroyed before them believed. Would they, then, believe? 6 The messengers We sent before you were but men whom We had sent revelations. Ask the People of the Book if you do not know this -- 7 And We did not create them without bodies so they would not eat food – nor that they abide on earth forever. 8 Then We fulfilled to them the promise, and We saved them and those whom We willed, but We destroyed Al-Musrifun (i.e. extravagants in oppression, polytheism and in sin). 9 We have indeed sent down towards you a Book, in which is your repute; so do you not have sense? 10
