The Stars (Al-Najm)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the star when it plunges, 1 your companion is not in error nor has he gone astray. 2 He does not speak out of his own desires. 3 It [the Quran] is nothing but revelation sent down to him. 4 He was taught by [an angel] who is mighty in power, 5 The Lord of Strength; so he attained completion, 6 the strong one who appeared on the uppermost horizon. 7 Then the Spectacle became closer, and came down in full view. 8 And was at a distance of two bows' length or (even) nearer, 9 so (Allah) revealed to His worshiper (Gabriel) that which he revealed (to Prophet Muhammad). 10 The heart lied not in that which he saw. 11 will you, then, contend with him as to what he saw? 12 Indeed, he saw him another time 13 At the farthest lote-tree; 14 Nigh thereto is the Garden of Abode. 15 when there covered the Lote-Tree that which covered; 16 The eye did not turn aside, nor did it exceed the limit. 17 Indeed he saw some of the greatest signs of His Lord. 18 Have ye thought upon Al-Lat and Al-'Uzza 19 And Manat, the third, the last? 20 Why - for yourselves [you would choose only] male offspring, whereas to Him [you assign] female: 21 That indeed is a division most unfair! 22 They are but names which ye have named, ye and your fathers, for which Allah hath revealed no warrant. They follow but a guess and that which (they) themselves desire. And now the guidance from their Lord hath come unto them. 23 Does man imagine that it is his due to have all that he might wish for, 24 So (know that) Allah only is the Owner of all – the Hereafter and this world. 25
