The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And fruit of what they select 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 The Companions of the Right 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 and clustered bananas, 29 and extended shade, 30 And water gushing, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 on raised couches. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And made them virgins, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
