The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Woe to the stinters; 1 Those who when they take the measure from others, take it in full! 2 but when they give by measurement or weight to others, they give them less. 3 Do they not realise that they will be raised to life 4 for a great Day, 5 The day on which men shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Indeed the ledger of the wicked will be in the lowest depths, Sijjin. 7 How will you comprehend what Sijjin is? 8 It is a Book inscribed. 9 Woe, then, to those that give the lie, 10 those that give the lie to the Day of Recompense. 11 No one rejects it except the sinful transgressors 12 When you recite Our verses to him, he says, "Stories of earlier men!" 13 Nay, but that which they have earned is rust upon their hearts. 14 No indeed, on that Day they shall be veiled from their Lord. 15 and then they shall enter Hell, 16 and be told: "This is the [very thing] to which you were wont to give the lie!" 17 By no means! Verily the record of the virtuous shall be in 'Illiyun. 18 And what could make thee conceive what that mode most lofty will be? 19 A book inscribed, 20 Which is witnessed by the close ones. 21 Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure 22 On couches, gazing, 23 Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. 24 as they are given to drink of a wine sealed 25 Whose seal is musk - for this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss - 26 With it will be (given) a mixture of Tasnim: 27 A spring whence those brought near (to Allah) drink. 28 Lo! the guilty used to laugh at those who believed, 29 when they passed by them, they would wink at one another; 30 And when they returned to their own followers they returned exulting. 31 And when they saw them, they said: "Verily! These have indeed gone astray!" 32 Yet they were not sent to be their guardians. 33 So this day it is the believers who laugh at the disbelievers. 34 On high thrones, watching. 35 The infidels have indeed been rewarded for that which they had been doing. 36
