The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Nigh unto men has drawn their reckoning, while they in heedlessness are yet turning away; 1 No recent revival of the remembrance comes to them from their Lord, except that they play with it as they listen 2 Their hearts trifling; and those who are unjust counsel together in secret: He is nothing but a mortal like yourselves; what! will you then yield to enchantment while you see? 3 And the Prophet said, “My Lord knows all that is spoken in the heavens and in the earth; and He only is the All Hearing, the All Knowing." 4 Aye! they say: a medley of dreams; aye! he hath fabricated it; aye! he is a poet; so let him bring us a sign even as the ancients were sent with. 5 There did not believe before them any town which We destroyed, will they then believe? 6 And We sent not before you, [O Muhammad], except men to whom We revealed [the message], so ask the people of the message if you do not know. 7 We had not made them such bodies that would not eat any food nor were they immortal. 8 Our promise to them came true and We saved them and those whom We wanted, but destroyed the unjust people. 9 We have revealed for you (O men!) a book in which is a Message for you: will ye not then understand? 10
