۞ When (Jesus) the son of Mary is held up as an example, behold, thy people raise a clamour thereat (in ridicule)! 57 and say: "Which is better - our deities or he?" [But] it is only in the spirit of dispute that they put this comparison before thee: yea, they are contentious folk! 58 Jesus was not but a servant upon whom We bestowed favor, and We made him an example for the Children of Israel. 59 If We had so willed We could have made some of you into angels to become your successors on earth. 60 He is a sign of the Hour. Have no doubt about it. But follow me. This is a straight path; 61 And let not the Satan hinder you; verily he is unto you an enemy manifest. 62 And when Isa came with clear arguments he said: I have come to you indeed with wisdom, and that I may make clear to you part of what you differ in; so be careful of (your duty to) Allah and obey me: 63 Lo! Allah, He is my Lord and your Lord. So worship Him. This is a right path. 64 Then the sects differed among themselves. Woe then unto those who do Wrong because of the torment of an afflictive Day. 65 Are they waiting except for the Hour to come upon them suddenly while they perceive not? 66 Friends will turn into enemies on that day, except those who fear and follow the straight path. 67
