Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Calamity! 1 What is the Reality? 2 And what will make you realize what the Inevitable Hour is? 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Ad denied that disaster would strike them: 4 Then as to Samood, they were destroyed by an excessively severe punishment. 5 And the 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent; 6 He made it rage against them seven nights and eight days in succession: so that thou couldst see the (whole) people lying prostrate in its (path), as they had been roots of hollow palm-trees tumbled down! 7 Can you see any of their survivors? 8 And Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and those before him, and the cities overthrown [the towns of the people of [Lout (Lot)] committed sin, 9 and rebelled against their Lord's Messenger. So He took them with a stern taking. 10 Surely We bore you up in the ship when the water rose high, 11 making it a Reminder for you, for all attentive ears to retain. 12 So, when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast 13 and the earth and the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with a single stroke! 14 So that is the day when the forthcoming event will occur. 15 And the heaven shall cleave asunder, so that on that day it shall be frail, 16 and will turn frail, losing all force. The angels will be around the heavens and on that day eight of them will carry the Throne of your Lord above all the creatures. 17 On that day all of you will be brought forth, so none among you wishing to hide will be able to hide. 18 On that Day, he whose Record is given to him in his right hand will say: “Lo! Read my Record! 19 Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account." 20 so he will live in a state of Bliss 21 In a lofty Garden 22 The fruits in bunches whereof will be low and near at hand. 23 "Eat ye and drink ye, with full satisfaction; because of the (good) that ye sent before you, in the days that are gone!" 24 And whoever is given his book in his left hand he will say, “Alas, if only my account were not given to me!” 25 Nor known whatever was my reckoning! 26 "I wish, would that it had been my end (death)! 27 My riches have not availed me, 28 My authority is gone away from me. 29 It will be said, “Seize him, and shackle him.” 30 "And burn ye him in the Blazing Fire. 31 then fasten him with a chain, seventy cubits long. 32 He would not believe in Allah, the Most Great; 33 nor were they concerned with feeding the destitute. 34 On this day, they will have no friends 35 Nor food other than suppuration (filth) 36 which no one will eat except the sinners. 37
