Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 In an elevated garden, 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 and goblets laid out, 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 and outspread carpets. 16 What, do they not consider how the camel was created, 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
