Not without purpose did We create heaven and earth and all between! that were the thought of Unbelievers! but woe to the Unbelievers because of the Fire (of Hell)! 27 Or should we treat those who believe and do righteous deeds like corrupters in the land? Or should We treat those who fear Allah like the wicked? 28 It is a blessed Book which We have revealed for you so that you will reflect upon its verses and so the people of understanding will take heed. 29 We gave David Solomon. He was an excellent servant who always turned to God. 30 [and even] when, towards the close of day, nobly-bred, swift-footed steeds were brought before him, 31 he said, 'Lo, I have loved the love of good things better than the remembrance of my Lord, until the sun was bidden behind the veil. 32 [He said], "Return them to me," and set about striking [their] legs and necks. 33 Surely We put Solomon to the test and cast upon his throne a mere body. Thereupon he penitently turned (to Us). 34 He said, “My Lord! Forgive me and bestow upon me a kingdom, which shall not befit anyone after me; indeed only You are the Great Bestower.” 35 So We subjected to him the wind, that ran at his commandment, softly, wherever he might light on, 36 And made the demons subservient to him, all builders and divers. 37 And others bound together in shackles. 38 We said: "This is Our gift, so give or withhold as you wish without reckoning." 39 And verily, nearness to Us awaits him [in the life to come,] and the most beauteous of all goals! 40
