The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 And when souls are united, 7 And when the girl buried alive shall be asked: 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 [on that Day] every human being will come to know what he has prepared [for himself]. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 The one who is obeyed, and trustworthy. (Other angels obey angel Jibreel). 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 When whither go ye? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
