And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 He said, 'Do they hear you when you call, 72 Or do they profit you or cause you harm? 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said: have ye observed that which ye worship 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 Who created me and Who guides me; 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 who makes me to die, then gives me life, 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 (And then Abraham prayed): "My Lord, endow me with knowledge and wisdom and join me with the righteous, 83 "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray. 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 the Day on which neither wealth will be of any use, nor children, 88 except him who comes before Allah with a pure heart; 89 and Paradise shall be brought forward to the cautious. 90 and Hell shall be revealed to the misguided, 91 It shall be said to them, 'Where is that you were serving 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 "Then they will be thrown headlong into the (Fire),- they and those straying in Evil, 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 "By Allah, we were surely in clear error 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 It was nothing but the evildoers who led us astray. 99 We have no one to intercede for us before God 100 nor a loving friend. 101 Would that we could have a chance to live again so that we might become believers." 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Ever Compassionate. 104
