He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), 28 And olives and palms 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
