The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 he shall call for destruction 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
