Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 And chosen goblets. 14 And cushions ranged! 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
