So when the envoys came to the household of Lot, 61 He said: "You are people I do not know." 62 They said, "But we have come to you with that about which they were disputing, 63 We bring you the truth, and indeed we are truthful. 64 Leave the town with your family sometime during the night. Walk behind them and let no one turn around. Proceed as you are commanded." 65 And We decreed unto him this commandment because the last of those was to be cut off in the early morning. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. 67 [Lout (Lot)] said: "Verily! these are my guests, so shame me not. 68 And keep your duty to Allah, and shame me not! 69 They said: forbade we not thee against the worlds? 70 [Lot] said: "[Take instead] these daughters of mine, if you must do [whatever you intend to do]!" 71 [But the angels spoke thus:] "As thou livest, [O Lot, they will not listen to thee:] behold, in their delirium [of lust] they are but blindly stumbling to and fro!" 72 And thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at the time of sunrise, 73 and We turned those [sinful towns] upside down, and rained down upon them stone-hard blows of chastisement pre-ordained. 74 Indeed in that are signs for those who discern. 75 And surely it is on a road that still abides. 76 Verily, herein lies a message indeed for all who believe [in God]. 77 The people of the Wood were also surely wrongdoers. 78 So We exacted retribution from them. They were both on an open highway, plain to see. 79
