The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 by the drawers (the angels of death), gently drawing (the souls of the believers), 2 and float [through space] with floating serene, 3 Then those who are foremost going ahead, 4 Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), 5 On the day when the trembling one will tremble. (The disbelievers will certainly taste the punishment.) 6 And the second followeth it, 7 On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing, 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They say: 'What, are we being restored as we were before, 10 What! when we are rotten bones? 11 [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" 12 It will be only one scaring shout, 13 And they will wake up suddenly. 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 When his Lord called to him in the holy valley, Towa: 16 "Go to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed. 17 Then say thou: wouldst thou to be purified? 18 that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 Yet he belied and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned his back, striving. 22 Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, 23 And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 Verily herein is lesson for him who feareth. 26
