He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 to a rich man, 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 and who has fear of God, 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 Noble and righteous. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 From what has God created him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 then the way eased for him, 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 Olives and dates, 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 and covered by darkness. 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
