Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 in a garden sublime, 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 In which are high thrones. 13 well arranged goblets, 14 cushions ranged, 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 you are not their keeper. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
