HENCE, [remember how it was] when thy Sustainer summoned Moses: "Go unto those evil doing people. 10 The people of Fir'awn; fear they Me not? 11 He said, 'My Lord, I fear they will cry me lies, 12 “I feel hesitant, and my tongue does not speak fast, therefore make Haroon also a Noble Messenger.” 13 And they have upon me a [claim due to] sin, so I fear that they will kill me." 14 Said He, 'No indeed; but go, both of you, with Our signs, and We assuredly shall be with you, listening. 15 Go, then, to Pharaoh and say to him: 'The Lord of the Universe has sent us 16 Send forth with us the Children of Israel' 17 Said Firaun, “Did we do not raise you amongst us, as a child? And you spent many years of your life among us!” 18 You spent many years of your life among us and then you committed that deed of yours. You are very ungrateful indeed." 19 He said: I did it then, when I was of those who are astray. 20 Then I ran away from you in fear, but my Lord granted me the law and has appointed me as a Messenger. 21 That is a blessing thou reproachest me with, having enslaved the Children of Israel.' 22 Pharaoh said: And what is the Lord of the Worlds? 23 Moses answered: "The Lord of the heavens and the earth and of all that is between them, if you were only to believe." 24 Pharaoh said to those around him: "Do you hear (what he says)?" 25 He said: Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers of old. 26 Fir'awn said: verily your apostle who hath been sent unto you is mad. 27 He said: Lord of the East and the West and all that is between them, if ye did but understand. 28 Said Firaun, “If you ascribe any one else as a God other than me, I will surely imprison you.” 29 and Moses asked, "Even if I show you a clear sign?" 30 Said he: Bring it then, if you are of the truthful ones. 31 He cast down his staff and thereupon it was a clear serpent. 32 Then he uncovered his hand and it was sheer white to the onlookers. 33
