And recite to them the tiding of Abraham 69 when he asked his father and others, "What do you worship?" 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 or benefit you or do you harm?" 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 He said, 'And have you considered what you have been serving, 75 you and your forefathers -- 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 He who gives me food and drink; 79 "And when I am ill, it is He Who cures me; 80 Who will cause me to die and then will again restore me to life; 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 (And then Abraham prayed): "My Lord, endow me with knowledge and wisdom and join me with the righteous, 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 The day when neither wealth nor children will be of any avail 88 Except him who brings to Allah a clean heart [clean from Shirk (polytheism) and Nifaq (hypocrisy)]. 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 “Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?” 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 “By oath of Allah, we were indeed in open error.” 97 when we deemed you [false deities] equal to the Sustainer of all the worlds 98 And none led us astray except the culprits. 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 "'Nor a single friend to feel (for us). 101 If only we could return and be among the believers!" 102 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 104
