The Romans (Al-Room)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Alif Lam Mim 1 The Romans are vanquished, 2 In the nearer land, and they, after their defeat will be victorious 3 In a few years (less than ten). God's is the imperative first and last. On that day the believers will rejoice 4 He helps whomever He wants. He is Majestic and All-merciful. 5 It is a promise of God; and God does not go back on His promise. Yet most men do not understand: 6 They know only some appearance of the life of the world, and are heedless of the Hereafter. 7 What, have they not considered within themselves? God created not the heavens and the earth, and what between them is, save with the truth and a stated term; yet most men disbelieve in the encounter with their Lord. 8 Have they not traveled through the earth and observed how was the end of those before them? They were greater than them in power, and they plowed the earth and built it up more than they have built it up, and their messengers came to them with clear evidences. And Allah would not ever have wronged them, but they were wronging themselves. 9 Evil was the end of those evil-doers, for they gave the lie to Allah's Signs and scoffed at them. 10
