As for one who turns away from the remembrance of the Gracious God, We appoint for him a devil, who will become his intimate companion. 36 and these satans hinder them from the Right Path, while he still reckons himself to be rightly-guided. 37 Till, when (such a one) comes to Us, he says [to his Qarin (Satan / devil companion)] "Would that between me and you were the distance of the two easts (or the east and west)" a worst (type of) companion (indeed)! 38 But nothing will avail you on that day, for you were unjust, and you will be partners in the punishment. 39 What! can you then make the deaf to hear or guide the blind and him who is in clear error? 40 Even if We take you away from the world, We shall surely take vengeance on them 41 Or show you some of what We have promised them. They are certainly well within Our power. 42 Follow devotedly that which is revealed to you. You are certainly on the right path. 43 The Quran is a reminder to you and to your people and you will soon be questioned about it. 44 And ask thou Our apostles whom We sent before thee: appointed We gods, beside the Compassionate, to be worshipped? 45
